WELCOME TO

YEAR 2

        Street Detectives!        

This half term our topic is

Street Detectives!

                English                  

We will be reading 'Claude in the City'

We will writing postcards to Claude and stories.

We will be writing poems about the sight and sounds of the city.

                  Maths                  

In Maths, we will be learning about:

  • Numbers to 100
  • Addition
  • Subtraction
  • Multiplication
  • Division

Geography

We will be exploring Worksop and the features that make up the area around school. 

History

We will be visiting Mr Straw's House and investigating how Worksop has changed over time.

Science

We will be investigating different materials and their properties.  We will also be exploring which materials would make the best umbrella! 

Art

We will be developing fine motor skills through the use of sketching skills.

ICT

We will be learning about algorithms.

RE

We will be looking at how people belong to different groups and communities.

PSHE

We will be learning about having a healthy lifestyle and personal hygiene.

PE

We will be developing gross motor skills through dance.

PE

PE is on Wednesday this half term. 

Please ensure your child has a white t-shirt and dark shorts.

Spelling Test

Spelling test will be on Monday.

Reading

Reading books will be changed every Monday

Please write in your child's diary each time they read at home so they can earn reading points!

 Homework

This term we will be completing pages from the English and Maths SAT Buster Books.

Homework is due in every Wednesday.
