Art

At Sir Edmund Hillary Academy, we believe that art is a powerful way for children to express themselves, explore their creativity and develop confidence in their own ideas.

Through the study of a wide range of artistic movements, artists and cultures, pupils learn to appreciate and understand different forms of art from around the world. Our curriculum follows a clear sequence where children learn to explore and discuss artwork, develop artistic techniques, experiment with colour and materials, create their own final pieces and reflect on their work.

As pupils progress through the school, they build their knowledge, skills and confidence as artists while developing critical thinking, creativity and an appreciation of the world around them.
