Design and Technology

At Sir Edmund Hillary Academy, Design and Technology encourages children to become creative problem-solvers who can design, make and evaluate products for real purposes and users.

Through a broad range of projects, including structures, mechanisms, textiles, food technology and electrical systems, pupils develop practical skills, technical knowledge and creativity. Children learn to research existing products, make informed design decisions, use tools safely and accurately, and evaluate their work to improve outcomes.

We encourage pupils to think innovatively, consider sustainability and understand how design and technology shapes the world around them. By applying their learning to real-life contexts, children develop the confidence, resilience and practical skills needed for future learning and everyday life.
