History

At Sir Edmund Hillary Academy, we want children to develop a love of history and a curiosity about the world around them.

Through learning about people, events and societies from the past, pupils build a secure understanding of how our world has changed over time. Children learn not only important historical knowledge but also how to think like historians by asking questions, exploring different sources of evidence, developing an understanding of chronology, and making informed judgements.

We encourage pupils to reflect on the significance and legacy of historical events, helping them understand how the past has shaped life today and preparing them to become thoughtful, informed citizens.
